Now a day’s people will usually google the issue for better understanding and sometimes try to do data recovery by themselves referring videos about data recovery in YouTube. Not all videos or content available are authentic. If you truly value your data, then you should not attempt to open the hard disk in an open environment. Data will be recorded continuously on the spinning platter, which spins at 5,400 RPM or beyond. The surface of the Platter must be extremely smooth to produce uniform read /write signal from the heads flying a few nanometers above the disk which is so close.

When an HDD is opened in normal /open environment, your HDD is exposed to the dust, moisture in the air, hairs etc. These dust particle size will be very huge compared to the space between platter and Head. When the Head moves and touches the Platter there will be chances of Head getting damaged and Platter gets scratched. This will damage the hard drive and the data will be inaccessible.
